MANCHESTER EATS GOES PLASTIC FREE

We’re an eco-friendly bunch here at Manchester Eats & with that, we’re very excited to announce the launch of our campaign to keep our event free from any plastics that may be harmful to the environment!

As part of the initiative, all our restaurants, cafes, bars & producers across the festival are being encouraged to sign a pledge to serve food and drink in only biodegradable containers. Traders are also being urged not to use single-use plastic straws in drinks.

Plans to eradicate environmentally damaging plastics from the events have been revealed just days after the Government outlined its proposal to eliminate all avoidable plastic waste within 25 years.

Denise Harris, Director at SK Events, said:

“As a responsible organiser of a number of large public events and festivals, we are working towards making all our events free from environmentally damaging plastics by 2019.

“At this year’s Manchester Eats, we are urging all traders to voluntarily replace harmful plastics with more environmentally friendly alternatives. Next year, it will be a mandatory requirement.”

More than 25,000 visitors are anticipated to flock to Heaton Park for Manchester Eats from 7 – 8 July!

The future certainly looks a lot greener!
